Boswell’s 60-yard game-winner was the longest field goal of his career, surpassing his previous mark of 59 yards set in 2022 also against New York. Rodgers’ four-touchdown, zero-interception afternoon was his 28th such performance in NFL regular-season play, tying Tom Brady for the most in league history at the time of the game. The 41-year-old finished with 244 passing yards and a 136.7 passer rating while generating 173 yards after the catch on completions, second-most of any passer in Week 1 across the league.

The matchup carried an additional historical footnote: it was the first game in NFL history in which both starting quarterbacks had been their opponent’s Week 1 starter the prior season. Fields had opened the 2024 campaign for Pittsburgh before signing with New York in the offseason, while Rodgers had started Week 1 for the Jets in 2024 before being released and joining the Steelers. Both quarterbacks performed well enough to win on a different day. Only one fumble separated them.
