Arizona rallied from an 11-point second-quarter deficit to beat Kansas City 20-17 in the 2025 NFL preseason opener for both franchises. Patrick Mahomes played one series, completed one pass for a one-yard touchdown, and handed off to the backups. Jacoby Brissett then threw both of Arizona’s second-quarter touchdowns to swing the game, and the Cardinals never trailed again after taking a 17-14 lead with four seconds left in the first half.
The scoreboard was not the lasting story from Glendale. Cornerback Jaylen Watson was placed in concussion protocol in the first quarter. Safety Deon Bush tore his left Achilles tendon on a non-contact play late in the second quarter and was carted off. Head coach Andy Reid confirmed Bush requires surgery and will miss the entire 2025 season.
