San Francisco 49ers vs Arizona Cardinals Match Player Stats (Nov 16, 2025)

Jacoby Brissett completed 47 passes on November 16, 2025, setting an NFL regular-season record for completions in a single game. The San Francisco 49ers won 41-22.

That gap between performance and scoreboard defines what happened in Glendale. Arizona outgained San Francisco by 207 yards, controlled the ball for more than eight extra minutes, and had competitive yardage numbers in every quarter. The Cardinals still lost by three scores because they committed a franchise-record 17 penalties for 130 yards, turned the ball over three times, and watched Skyy Moore return the opening kickoff 98 yards to the Arizona one-yard line. Christian McCaffrey scored on the next play. Sixteen seconds had elapsed.

Brock Purdy was playing his first game since September 28, returning from a turf toe injury that cost him six consecutive starts. He completed 19 of 26 passes for 200 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions, posting a 133.5 passer rating. Arizona was also without Kyler Murray, placed on injured reserve on November 5 with a mid-foot sprain, and wide receiver Marvin Harrison Jr., inactive following appendix surgery earlier that week.

The 49ers improved to 7-4 and returned to full strength at quarterback at a point in the schedule where both the NFC West race and the wild card picture were still unsettled. Purdy, who had not played since Week 4 against the Cardinals’ divisional rivals, showed no meaningful effect from the layoff. San Francisco scored on its first three possessions and was never seriously threatened.

Arizona’s afternoon illustrated how quickly volume statistics can be stripped of meaning. Brissett’s record 47 completions, Wilson’s 185-yard career high, McBride’s 115-yard receiving day, and a 34:15 time of possession advantage over the 49ers all appeared in the same box score as zero takeaways, 17 penalties, and a final deficit of 19 points. At 3-7, with Murray on injured reserve and the earliest possible return date set for Week 14, the Cardinals’ statistical output from the Brissett era had little bearing on where the season was heading.
