New York Giants vs Washington Commanders Match Player Stats (Dec 14, 2025)

Jake Moody went 3 for 3 on field goals in 27-degree wind at East Rutherford, Jaylin Lane returned a Cameron Johnston punt 63 yards to the end zone in the second quarter, and Marcus Mariota found Terry McLaurin on a 51-yard strike in the fourth as Washington beat New York 29–21 on December 14, 2025, ending a losing streak that had run eight games. Jayden Daniels, shut down for the final three games of the 2025 season three days earlier with a reaggravated dislocated left elbow, watched from the sideline while Mariota finished 10 of 19 for 211 yards and a touchdown.

Washington built a 22–7 halftime lead through a second-quarter sequence New York could not recover from. After Jacory Croskey-Merritt scored on a 16-yard run in the second, Von Miller sacked Jaxson Dart with 1:33 remaining in the half, leaving New York at their own 12 on third and 23 and forcing a punt from their own 15-yard line that Lane returned untouched. Miller’s sack was the 136th and a half of his career, moving the edge rusher past Jared Allen into 12th place on the all-time list. Three plays after Lane scored, with the extra point attempt having failed, Dart threw toward Jalin Hyatt with 24 seconds on the clock and Mike Sainristil stepped into the route for a 55-yard interception return that set up Moody’s third field goal as time expired.

Dart finished 20 of 36 for 246 yards with touchdown passes to Tyrone Tracy Jr. and Wan’Dale Robinson, adding 63 rushing yards on nine carries. A designed run in the fourth quarter sent him to the blue medical tent for a concussion evaluation, his second such incident of the 2025 season after one on November 9 at Chicago. He was cleared within two plays but the Commanders held on. Younghoe Koo’s two missed field goals from 52 and 51 yards proved costly against a Washington side that went a perfect 3 for 3 through Moody. New York fell to 2–12, their eighth straight loss. Washington moved to 4–10.

Washington’s afternoon without its starter produced more than the final score suggests. Mariota’s 109.8 passer rating was his best single-game mark across eight 2025 starts, Croskey-Merritt ran for 96 yards and a score as the team’s primary ball-carrier in cold conditions that favored the run, and Lane, who received the game ball from Dan Quinn after the game, had arrived in December as a largely unproven return specialist. Three Moody field goals, all converted, gave Washington a cushion that survived a scoreless third quarter and a Giants fourth-quarter drive that pulled the deficit to eight.

The kicking gap between the two teams was larger than the final margin. Moody finished with 11 points from the field, Koo with three. New York’s two missed field goals from beyond 50 yards represented at least a potential six points that stayed off the board, and the gap between the Commanders’ 22-point halftime lead and a competitive game was built substantially on the 55-yard interception return and Lane’s punt return in the span of four second-quarter minutes. Without Thibodeaux for a fourth straight game, New York’s pass rush generated one sack across 19 Mariota dropbacks.

The 2–12 record positioned the Giants at the top of the 2026 draft order with front-office questions that were already surfacing publicly. Dart’s 246 passing yards and 63 rushing yards against a Washington secondary ranked near the bottom of the league in most passing defense categories were more productive than the season record reflected. Rookie pass rusher Abdul Carter earned the highest PFF grade of anyone on either roster at 94.1, with one sack, three tackles for loss, and a forced fumble across 49 snaps. The final score ended eight weeks without a Washington win. For New York, the more relevant number was their position in the draft.
