Rookie cornerback Trey Amos, Washington’s second-round pick, also sat out after reporting hamstring tightness following Saturday’s practice. He warmed up pre-game but the coaching staff held him.

How the Night Unfolded
Burrow’s stat line over two preseason games was consistent: efficient, brief, no turnovers. He threw 9 completions on 14 attempts against Washington, took one sack for -17 yards, and scored once before exiting. Browning, who finished with a 108.6 passer rating, posted the highest individual mark among all quarterbacks on the night.
Tinsley’s pair of catches in the final 34 seconds of the first half ended Washington’s chances. The first was a back-shoulder 13-yard reception from Browning on a 6-play, 60-yard drive, giving Cincinnati a 21-14 lead with 34 seconds remaining. Barrett Carter’s interception then gave the Bengals the ball back at Washington’s 21. Browning found Tinsley on a single play — a 21-yard toe-tapping catch at the back of the end zone with 14 seconds left — to make it 28-14 at the half. Tinsley, a former member of Washington’s roster who recorded zero catches across two seasons there, finished with 5 receptions, 73 yards, and both touchdowns.
Washington’s 185 rushing yards came against a Cincinnati defense that had recorded zero sacks on the night and was operating without Hendrickson. Rodriguez ran six times for 62 yards with a long of 40 on the Commanders’ opening possession alongside Daniels. Jacory Croskey-Merritt, a seventh-round rookie who had appeared in just one college game in 2024, added 46 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Brian Robinson Jr., who led Washington with 187 carries in 2024, was not at the stadium. The Bengals held on with McPherson’s 54-yard field goal with 3:06 left in the fourth.
Cincinnati finished the night 1-1 in the preseason. Washington dropped to 0-2.
